Ancient villages,as important components of the cultural heritage preserved by human beings, play an important role both in the traditional culture and in civil collections.Foreign scholars have payed great attentions and made relevant rules and laws to protect and reasonably develop ancient villages since the 1930s. Until 1980s,China began to investigate and protect the ancient villages. But the lack of cognition to the contradiction between protection and develop of ancient villages leads that question being a long-term hot debate among the Chinese scholars. For a long time, ancient buildings in Shanxi province which show dramatically local characteristics and great protection value are ignored by people. Realizing the importance of the develop as well as the protection of ancient villages,this thesis,based on the contrivements of previous scholars and the investigation of the writer, takes an example of Shanxi ancient villages, ancient villages in Yunqiu Montain, to discuss how to strike balance between economic development and culture preserve.To complete this thesis,the author do a lot of preparation including collecting relevant documents and on-side inspecting three different state ancient villages in Yunqiu Montain to find out the questions and sum up experience during the process of develop and protection of ancient villages。 By clarifying the rule of "authenticity"、"measures must be adjusted to local conditions"、"develop tourism reasonably"、"preserving the original habitants of ancient villages", the author aims to give suggestions on how to protect and develop tourism reasonably for ancient villages.
