With the development of economic globalization, the internationalization ofhigher education has become a current trend. Student exchanges, developmentof the study abroad, countries from all around the world which encourage mutualunderstanding, deep and the friendly relations between countries, have enhancethe influence on the international community and other aspects and have playedan important role.The student’s career is an important component of China’s educationbecause it has received a great important from the Chinese government andleaders. Learning Chinese is a very complicated process, and its result has alinked with the work quality made from the student.In order to help students to improve they Chinese level, many universitiesoffers general courses in Chinese language, but according to students, learninga language is not only related to the language basics but it is also associatedwith many other factors.As the Chinese language is constantly expanding around the world, moreand more foreigners choose to come to China to study Chinese. They came toChina with a different purpose and motivation, starting to learn Chinese tounderstand Chinese history and culture. Cultural identity has greatly affected theChinese learning motivation of the students in China, and, in turn, affects allaspects of Chinese learning, and this is an important study subject for overseasresearcher students.In this paper, through the cultural identity and the learning motivation theory,the motivation of students learning Chinese for research, and the investigation’sanalysis result, we will study the relationship between the student’s cultural identity and learning motivation.Thanks to our investigation and our paper’s conclusion, we found that:1.Even if foreign students have not the same age, they all have astrong Chinese language learning motivation.2.Cultural identity is a crucial factor for foreign students who learnChinese.3.The motivation of students with different ages and the relationshipbetween the cultural identities exist in different change.4.The relationship between types of motivation and cultural identity arelinked with the change with age.
