Learning motivation,as an inner driving force to encourage students to involve in studying process,has direct impact on their learning results.In recent years,experts and scholars have paid more and more attention to the study of "the motivation of Chinese as a second language learner".However,most of the research objects are focused on the first language English learners and overseas students in China.There are few studies on the motivation of Chinese learners in Thailand,and there are few studies on the group of Chinese learners in Thai vocational schools.Guided by the motivation theory of learning a second language and based on207 junior students of the Second Grade who now study in the Luangphorkhoon Praisutho Technical College(also referred to as LPK)in Thailand,this paper,which has drawn on the existing research results and adopted such ways as questionnaire survey,observation in class and face-to-face talks after class,analyzes the classification of Chines-learning students in Thai vocational schools and studies what will influence their learning motivation.At the same time,this author also sent digital questionnaire to ordinary high school students who study in Mathayom Dankhunthod School,where situated in the same town as the LPK.Through studying the Chinese-learning motivation of these 100 high school students,this paper is going to compare the learning motivation of vocational school students and students in ordinary high school,summarize the differences between these motivations and explore the reasons behind them.After analyzing these questionnaires and the author's observations and her talks with students,there are mainly four types of learning motivation of Thai vocational school students,namely,learning Chinese as a language tool,inner motivation,passive Chinese language learner and General motivation.Of the four main types,the students who see Chinese language as a tool account for about 52 percent.Through this paper,on the one hand,in order to provide a certain reference forThai vocational school students in the field of Chinese learning motivation,to make up for the lack of domestic research in this area;On the other hand,help Chinese teachers in Thailand understand the students' learning needs,teach them according to their aptitude,and improve the teaching effect to the maximum extent.
