Learning motivation as the important factors in second language learning haveimportant impacts on Lao students when they study Chinese. This article mainly usesthe investigation, the literature analytic method, the questionnaire survey procedureand the interview law and the method of inspection and so on many kinds of methodsas analysis tools for examining the motivation type,the different factors and therelationship between different motivations of Lao students.The study of Lao students’ motivation is divided seven parts: the first partbriefly introduces the origin, Purposes and innovation of this study. The second partreviews about motivation research in general which are related to this study. The thirdpart describes survey-research design, including survey aim, methodology,instruments and data analysis methods. The fourth part examines the Chinese-learningmotivation of Lao students, includes the factors and motivations of different types ofrelationship during the class. The part five is the results of the discussion andconclusions. The part six provides some teaching suggestions of Lao students. Thepart seven is the limitations of this study and the further assumption.The results show that:1. The Lao students present the highest motivation at the learner level, and thelowest at the language level.2. With the deepening of study the motivations of Lao students are interacting3. Sex bears distinctive influence on motivation and female students presenthigher motivations at language level and the learner level.
