Research On The Animal Pottery Sculptures In Han Dynasty Tombs Of Chongqing’s Three Gorges Area

Since the 90 s of the twentieth century, as the construction of the Three Gorges project, there are a large number of graves in Han Dynasty. We have found many animal pottery sculptures.After the first-study of these animals, on one hand, we can learn about the agricultural economic development in this time. On the other hand, we can learn the funeral culture enough in this area. We do a deep research in this thesis from the following aspects:The kinds of the animal pottery sculptures: there are three kinds of animals in this area: domestic animals, non-domestic animals, and mythical animals. By the analysis of all kinds of animals, we find it is important for us to learn about husbandry,handicraft industry and religion and cultural customs in this area.The combination of the animal pottery sculptures, the different association reflexes directly the different scale of the production, it also explains the economic and political system at that time. Besides it also illustrates the rank or level of the graves and the wealth distribution of different levels.The time differing of the animal pottery sculptures: the different periods of the animal pottery sculptures make us learn about the variety of animals people feed in different time, at the same time, it makes us know that the handicraft skills characters of the animal pottery sculptures in different time. After the analysis, we can have a deep thought to the development levels of the agricultural and handicraft industry.The location of the animal pottery sculptures, it is divided into east, middle, and west in the Three Gorges of Chongqing, by the analysis, we can discover there are different characteristics, it is different obviously, it was deeply affected by the Chu culture in the east part, the west part is closely connected with Sichuan province and the middle part plays an important role in transferring the coming culture.The reasons of the different animal pottery sculptures, the animal pottery sculptures has a deep social and cultural reasons, for example, in pre-Qin dynasty,there are all kinds of customs of animal pottery sculptures and was affected by the Confusion culture.Above all, through the vertical and horizontal competition, we discovered that Sichuan and Chongqing Culture is different from the other areas, but it reserves the indigenous culture of the Ba Yu area. The special location of the Three Gorges is beneficial for the cultural transportation, so we have found Sichuan and Chongqing culture, Chu culture and Central part culture.From the whole country at that time, the sort, combination, and quantity of the animal pottery sculptures founded in the Three Gorges are similar with the other places, it simplified that the economic cultures in the Three Gorges of Chongqing keep a close contact with the other areas in China.
