The Intertextuality In The Song Tea Poems And Its Representation In The English Introductions To Their Authors

As a main medium and an important bridge, translation on tea classic has been a big part in the international communication of Chinese culture as well as dialogues and exchanges between cultures home and abroad. Although translation on tea classic started early, few translators and masters have done translation study on poems of the Song Dynasty specifically. Therefore, this report chooses several poems with their corresponding introductions of authors and culture backgrounds in the Song Dynasty, and focuses on the intertextuality characteristics with the expectation that all work in this report would provide be helpful and reference in a way.Tea culture shows a flourishing trend in the Song Dynasty, which connects past and future in the history of tea development. Hence intertextuality reflects in lots of tea poems, which is also the main difficulty during translation process. According to the reasons above, this report analyzes the intertextuality and discusses corresponding strategies for different conditions. The First Chapter is about the introduction of translation practice, including the purpose and significance of practice, basic requirements, and preparation before translation. The Second Chapter mainly introduces the basic concepts and theories, concerning about intertextuality and translation study. The Third Chapter is the core of this report, which expresses the associated features in the Song Dynasty and their reproduction in the introductions and translations of authors and cultural backgrounds with specific examples. Last but not least, Chapter Four summarizes the translation practice, some typical problems and the author’s experience in the process of translation.
