Based on the intertextuality theory put forward by the French semiologist and literary critic Julia Kristeva in the 1960s,translation studies try to show that no text is isolated from other texts. Each text, influenced and changed more or less by other texts, embraces other texts, including those of the writers, translators as well as readers, into a mutually connected net of conversation.Traditional Chinese literary classics involve rich cultural implications over history, thus making it more difficult for the translator. So in order to accurately express the connotations and the denotations,it is necessary for translators to correlate those texts with their subtexts and the social and cultural background of the day.In accordance with the intertextuality theory, this report proofreads the original translated version by means of literal translation, free translation and annotation. In terms of the framework of this report, this report discusses respectively four kinds of problems I have encountered during the proofreading process:words and phrases with/without cultural connotations, historical events and quotations. It then analyzes the original translation in terms of intertextuality through comparison, drawing a conclusion that the theory of intertextuality may play a significant role in promoting culture communication for translation. This report aims to analyze ways intertextual phenomena in the translation of C-E documents can be proceeded based on the intertextuality theory by applying intertextuality in translation. It then analyzes the original translation in terms of intertextuality through comparison, drawing a conclusion that the theory of intertextuality may play a significant role in promoting culture communication for translation.
