Shapes And Spirit

Chinese calligraphy art started at the time when Chinese characters came into being. And it is the art of writing of Chinese character. It is not only a gem of Chinese culture, but also unique and brilliant in the art of the world culture.Chinese calligraphy has effect on the social role of the exchange of ideas, cultural heritage and other important aspects on the one hand, and on the other hand it is a unique plastic art which is over conveying spirit through form when you put your heart into it. The calligraphy combined with poems and handwriting is praised highly by literati in ancient China.In this paper, it is discussed in detail for the form and spirit of the calligraphy and creation. A representative short poem by Caocao named Duangexing is choosed as the content of calligraphy creation and the cursive script is used as the calligraphy style to express a kind of momentum. The form and spirit of the calligraphy in the paper endues it with new connotations. The author has accomplished very little in calligraphy, and the understanding and pursuing the form and spirit of the calligraphy is not yet completely mature. However,the author’s intention is very clear. He is willing to take the state of conveying spirit through form in the calligraphy as lifelong pursuit.
