A Report On E-C Translation Of Continuity And Change In Russian Formalism, Czech Structuralism, And Soviet Semiotics

Along with two other translators, the author has translated a book, Continuity and Change in Russian Formalism, Czech Structuralism, and Soviet Semiotics from English to Chinese. Based on this translation, the features of literary criticism and the translation techniques will be discussed in this thesis. The translation features of the literary criticism are simple language and correct terms. The modes of argument used in this text are mainly exemplification and comparison. The former means that different examples are given to prove translation techniques; the latter indicates that the author will argue and choose the best version by comparing different versions. This thesis analyzes the methods to translate technical terms--literal translation and domestication. Different methods are used to translate different sentences. Because this translation is achieved by several translators, it differs in terms of process and revision from those completed by one person, which is also the highlight of this thesis. It would be fantastic that the thesis will help translators who deal with the similar kind of translation material.
