Achille-Claude Debussy(22 August 1862 – 25 March 1918) was a French composer. Debussy was among the most influential composers of the late 19 th and early 20 th centuries. and his use of non-traditional scales and chromaticism influenced many composers who followed. His music is mainly focus on the sound effects, and in his work the rich swinging chorus is the key element. He is good at the performance of the moment enjoyable which give a person the auditory sensory feasting. The ’Twelve Piano Etudes’ is the best combination of music and acting in his music. This paper mainly studied from the artistic characteristics and teaching of Debussy ’Twelve Piano Etudes’. On the artistic characteristic, mainly adopts the combination between theory and practice to focus on. Through the analysis of texture, scale, harmony and the phrase characteristics of song in the practice of Debussy’s music to reveal the independence, the color and the special fragment of ’Twelve Piano Etudes’. Debussy’s ’Twelve Piano Etudes’ made extensive use of double tonality, composite mode and new contrapuntal style which created a whole new sound world. This paper will analysis the similarity between Czerny,Chopin Etudes and Debussy’s music.And combined with the practice, to explore a workable way of teaching.
