Analysis And Countermeasures Of Public Square Dance Phenomenon From Multi-Perspectives

Public Square Dance is not only a cultural phenomenon, but also a kind of social phenomenon. At present, the research on public square dance analyzes more from the perspective of social sports, its development in individual regions, characteristics of exercise population, problems it faces, and the positive consequences brought by public square dance in civil physical quality improvement and in promotion of building a harmonious society. It can be seen that the current researches are to some extent narrow, lack in-depth and multi-perspective studies. This paper adopts the method of literature reading combined with field investigation, and uses public management, urban sociology, ethnology, anthropology, system science, human geography, urban culture, public economics and the interdisciplinary theory as the view of city management, and tries to interpret how public square dance generates and constructs. This paper also explains the core features of public square dance, views its past, present and future in three-dimensional space time and multi-dimensional perspectives.Focus in the study of this thesis attempts to set public square dance in the frame of social transformation period, examining its living ecology, its development, and reviews the problems and difficulties it faces now, and tries to find countermeasures to these problems from multi-perspective thinking.This thesis presents mainly from the following aspects. The first part introduces the background of the selected topic, research methods, research innovations, and both the theoretical and practical significance of this thesis. The second part introduces the theories used in this research, such as theory of social space, self-organization and other-organization theory, social conflict theory, externality theory, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, etc. The third part reviews public square dance from the historical angle and explores the origin of public square dance. The fourth part on the basis of the fieldwork shows the development and problems of public square dance, and focuses on the participants of public square dance. The fifth part combines the social conflict theory in sociology, economics of public product theory and game theory to analyze the developing predicament of current public square dance, as well as the internal mechanism of this predicament. The sixth part gives proper countermeasures of public square dance phenomenon by using social conflict theory, public economics, and game theory. The epilogue summarizes the main achievement of this research, the limitations of it, and the suggestions to further research.
