Early years of the Republic of China, a group of modern engineers, feeling the career of engineering in China’s fall behind, established the Chinese Institute of Engineers, for the purpose of lead and unite engineers to carry out the engineering academic research. The Institute was also actively explore the construction of the internal organization, contact the domestic and international engineering community of science communication, and on-the-spot investigation to provide reference for various industrial construction. At the same time, the Institute was guide the practice of engineering education institution, encourage to set up the engineering specialized schools to cultivate engineering talent and reward outstanding engineering and technical personnel. All these measures were continuously prompting the standardization of all institutions, but also formed peculiar concept of engineering, for which both guide association of engineering practice, and promote the interaction of the Chinese engineering science and technology and social in modern China.Thus, based on the learn clues of scientific institutions for Chinese Institute of Engineers, this paper analysis to the investigation of the organization constructions in the nearly 40 years in development course, research, communication, education and awards, in order to reveal the Chinese Institute of Engineers’ important position in the history of modern China engineering, and motivation of scientific and cultural and social role during the period of the Republic of China.First of all, learning a brief elaboration of the development survey of the history of the Chinese Institute of Engineers, make us clear three stages development in the nearly 40 years, overall grasp the history of the Institute development, provide the basis to understand the institutionalized institute construction.Second, analysis and discussion in-depth of the organization construction, research, education, communication and reward institute of theChinese Institute of Engineers. Analyze the improvement of the Institute of internal organization in three historical periods, deepening the study of the engineering science and engineering communication widely extended, reflection and exploration of engineering education, and the formation of the reward system, so that we fully understand the construction of the Institute and grasp the Institute’s three historical periods different institutional construction of the inheritance and development.Finally, look at the institutional construction of the Chinese Institute of Engineers from the perspective of scientific culture, which reflects the concept of engineering of practical for using combined with academic research. Under the guidance of this concept, the Institute learned all aspects of the exploration and construction, constantly interact with society, promote the development of the engineering in the period of the Republic of China, and also promote the project development of science and culture in modern China. The exploration and development of the Chinese Institute of Engineers provide the reference of experience to interaction of strengthen science institute and social in the new reform and opening up period today, which is beneficial to the further growth of Chinese society, and contribute to the realization of the dream of China’s industrial powerhouse.
