Calculation and representation are two core concepts in the field of cognitive science. Representation is the basis of the calculation and the calculation is the meaning of representation. If there is no representation, the mind will not be able to create knowledge. Representation can do nothing without calculation. Language is the first representation system, which is an important method of communication for people and computer. Logical representation use formal language. Logic has the full descriptive power and strong inferential capability. Other representation can not transcend it. We talk about the inner rationality about the knowledge representation with the perspective of cognitive philosophy under the point of mental representation, who cares the way and the structure of the knowledge representation in our brain. Representation is the foundation of intelligence. In a sense, there is no knowledge without the representation of our world. The basic framework of this paper consists of three parts, including the concept and meaning of knowledge representation, the way of knowledge representation and philosophical reflection of knowledge representation. The focus of the first chapter is the concept and meaning of knowledge representation. It analyzes the concept and nature of knowledge first, and we will have a clear understanding of knowledge representation on the whole after that. The second chapter is the focus of this paper. It mainly introduces the three forms of knowledge representation, that are, propositional representation, logical representation and the graphic representation. This chapter explains the concepts and characteristics of each form. Besides, it analyzes the three forms of knowledge representation, combining with the relevant knowledge of cognitive science. The third chapter is the last part of this paper. It reflects and thinks about the knowledge representation from the perspectives of philosophical ontology, epistemology and axiology. It focuses on seeking the support of ontology and epistemology in order to explore the essence and value of knowledge representation. This article is trying to search for a joint of artificial intelligence and mental representation, so as to explore the essence of human intelligence and provide a theoretical support for the development of AI.
