Shanxi Folk Dance Creative Techniques In The Study

Dance, as an artistic "language" which is formulated by human actions, has its own irreplaceable functionalities in comparison to other artistic forms. As human emotions reach the peak, language is too plain to express the intensity and magnitude of the emotions, therefore dance becomes the best way to embody it. The techniques of choreography is the way that choreographers invent and create the steps and movements after having recognized a great deal of relevant information and grasped a degree of skills. With the gradual advance of era, there emerges loads of practical and theoretical books in relation to choreographic techniques that are complied by domestic and foreign masters associated with spirits of bold innovation and unceasing attempts, so that we are capable of having so many materials to refer to. Besides, the creation of dance has been enriched on a large extent by these materials. Regardless of their CDs or journals, the techniques of choreography have been continually going through the process of creation. Hence, these techniques should be the one of the topics needed us to endow a long-term study and research on. From the selection of source materials, coming up ideas, and finalizing the roles, to utilizing the time dimension, space, and strength to choreograph sentence of dancing, all of these factors will be composed to be a dance section. A final production will be completed by several dance section in conjunction with props,music, and some other elements of dance techniques. This thesis is going to study various remarkable aspects in the process of dance creation based on the analysis of the utilization of choreographic techniques in folk dance of Shanxi. Relevant examples will be made and some new achievements in this field will be analyzed in accordance with personal perspectives. It is hoped that this thesis would make contributions to the construction of choreographic theory.Chapter one:The excellent dance works from Shanxi province will be demonstrated and some phenomena and problems existed in the works will be illustrated in order to make a crystal clear explanation of the function of the techniques of choreography. Chapter two:This chapter presents the inevitable way to choreograph a dance work, which is regarded as the solid foundation of a good dance work, and illustrates how to utilize flexibly techniques to make good connection with three key factors "time dimension, space and strength" in the process of creation. Chapter three:Modern dance and improvisation dance will be integrated into dances from Shanxi, so that dances from Shanxi are able to be improved via absorbing exotic culture and knowledge. Applying new thoughts on traditional dance is an innovative point in this thesis. Chapter four:this chapter will discuss the future direction of creation of folk dance of Shanxi combined with personal point of view.
