Study On National Characteristics In The Originality Of Cartoon

With the development of globalization, the cultural industry has become a strategic pillar industry of the national economy. Cartoon, as an important part of cultural industries, possesses the double attribute of culture and commerce. The early Chinese cartoons such as Monkey King and Princess Iron Fan once renowned overseas, but now the Chinese cartoons have a tendency of imitating the cartoons of Japan, Europe and the United States and get further away in the use of national culture resources.In the process of developing the national cartoon, China’s original cartoon series The Legend of Qin which is based on the creative ideas of "history as framework and arts as embellishment", by combining with advanced technology of cartoons and actively exploring the industrial market, becomes one of the most influential cartoon with rich national style and cultural features in China’s cartoon industry. Thus, it sets a good example for the development of Chinese cartoon industry.This article focuses on national characteristics in cartoon creativity and bases on the specific case of The Legend of Qin. By comparison of the status and the dilemma in US-Japan and China, it analyzes the deficiencies of national characteristics in cartoon creativity with interdisciplinary perspectives. And then it proposes improvements to reflect national characteristics and show propagation effects of "Chinese spirit, Chinese stylish".Firstly, the thesis discusses the development status of the cartoon creativity and the importance of ethnic characteristics in the cartoon creativity. Secondly, through the comparison of cartoons in China, United States, and Japan, it obtains the differences in expression and style, which further sums up the problem of Chinese cartoon and finds a solution. Finally, it analyzes the national characteristics in The Legend of Qin, and it explores the organic mixture of national characteristics and traditional culture’s application in cartoons, which forms a cartoon creativity with distinct Chinese characteristics.
