A Report On The Chinese-English Translation Of Hunan Folklore

Hunan folklore has been a real refection of daily life of people in Hunan for thousands of years. Good Chinese-English translation on Hunan folklore not only helps people around the world better know about the characteristics of local ethnicity, folk customs and culture but also shows Hunan to the world from a folklore angle and attracts more foreign tourists come and experience the humanistic spirits in Hunan, hence to push forward development of local tourist industry and cultural communication between China and foreign countries.Two Chapters, as the Chinese-English translation material abstracted from Hunan folklore, respectively are introduction about family conventions and folk customs of social communication in Hunan. This report mainly consists of a brief introduction about translation contents, theoretical bases, preparation before translation practice, case studies during translation practice and a general conclusion of translation practice.In this report, under the theoretical guidance of translation theories such as Skopos Theories and cultural translation studies summarized and provided by Mr. Liu Miqing, the author started from studying on the characteristics and contents of the translation text and came up with a conclusion of translation practice through implementing different translation skills and strategies on specific translation cases.As the report shows, translators should focus on the studies and summary of translation theories, at the same time, translators should accumulate background knowledge on relevant translation texts and use proper translation skills and strategies to further improve the quality of translation.
