This report discusses the translation practice of Travels with My Aunt(1970) which was written by Graham Greene(1904-1991). The novel is divided into two parts, the first part has twenty chapters and the second part has seven. This report discusses the translation from the Chapter One to Chapter Seven of Part one which is about 15,000 English words.This report analyzes the translation process from several aspects. The first part gives an introduction to the text source, project background and the research meaning. Secondly, it analyzes the features of the text, the translation difficulties, and the translation theories: faithfulness and the creative treason. The translation principles focus on accurate transform of source contents and the spirits. Kinds of translation skills can be used to realize the transformation. This report combines the theories with cases in translation and analyzes the process of discovering problems and solutions. The approaches used in the translation practice with specific examples is the most important part of the report. This part gives some words and sentences examples including parts of speech conversion, long difficult sentence processing, black English, proper nouns, etc. At last, the writer will summarize the experiences and deficiencies during the translation. By translating this novel of Graham Greene, the writer has learned more information and writing styles of him, by applying Faithfulness in literary translation as the main principle in this report, the writer has practiced using translation strategies such as Literal Translation, Free Translation, Filling-up Translation(Literal Translation with Notes). The writer has gained more translation experiences and there are still many problems during translation. It is very necessary to read and practice more in future.
