The Research Of The Spreading Of China’s History Film And Television Drama In Thailand Through "Three Kingdoms"

China and Thailand have a long history of relations. Although Thailand is not connected with China on land, it has been a friendly neighboring country of China since ancient times. During two thousand years of marine trade between the two countries, each country has sent diplomatic envoys; at the same time, all kinds of Chinese culture spread to Thailand through a variety of ways. In recent years, the "Chinese fever" has continued to heat up in Thailand, and the people of Thailand are more and more interested in Chinese culture. Parts of outstanding literary works of China have gradually spread to Thailand, which include the poetry of Tang and Song Dynasties, the novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Contemporary Swordsman Fiction etc. Chinese literature does not only affect a large number of Thai people for its popularity, but it also makes Thai people understand different times of China through these excellent literary works.In 1802, Rama I (1737-1809), the King of Thailand, assigned Chaophraya Phrakhlang (Hon) to translate the literary work, the Three Kingdoms, the words of which are beautiful and able to instruct war strategy. At first, the distribution of the Three Kingdoms was only limited in the palace. In the time of King Rama VI (1910-1925), the Three Kingdoms was known as the great work of literature. After that, Thailand Department of Education selected some parts of the book as the textbook for students. The Three Kingdoms is one of the greatest literary works that have considerable influence on the literature of Thailand.With the rapid development of science and technology, media about culture spreading become more available, apart from paper media, there is also television and other networks. More and more Thai people are keen on getting information from television networks. So Chinese television dramas have gradually become an effective way for Thai people of all ages to understand the history and culture of China, and the television series of the Three Kingdoms makes the history of China easier to spread among all ages of Thai people. Thus, Chinese television drama plays an important role in promoting the cultural development and communication between China and Thailand. Based on the above analysis, some suggestions are put forward for improving Chinese historical television drama spreading in Thailand in the following aspects:the psychological characteristics of the audience, the direction of the market development, the level of television dramas production, communication between the two countries’government and strengthening cross cultural communication.
