As the trend of postmodernism and pioneering design originated from Britain in the 1950 s and became popular in the US, Pop Art is considered to promote the popularization and pursue novel as well as brilliantly colored forms. Since then, art and design has been closely connected with each other. Andy Warhol, regarded as a famous pop artist in the 20 th century, his works were not only inspired by modern commercial society as well as print advertisement, but also influenced the area of design. Commerce, art and design are an organic whole, which connects and influences each other in his works. Mention of Andy Warhol’s Pop Art, the best known, as Silk Screen Printing work is "duplication" and also its influence on Pop Art. Nevertheless, his contributions to modern art and design are far beyond our imagination. To study Andy Warhol’s artistic achievement and characteristics, widely used duplicable expression in Andy Warhol’s silk Screen Printing is brought into focus in the viewpoint of design. As a kind of design style and technique of expression, repetition is broadly used in the modern art and design.Since the 1960 s, Andy Warhol constantly explored and practiced design art of repetition. He took advantage of images from mass media simply and clearly in art form. As the basic element, Coca-Cola bottle and the head of Marilyn Monroe could be duplicable permutation with exaggerated color in the picture and attracted customers owing to repeated tension together with visual impact. His works reflect repetition, unconventional ideas and unique design style. The design art of repetition, created by Andy Warhol from life, made simple graphics become close to the popular and brought art close to life. Also it interpreted Andy Warhol’s artistic ideas and creative methods with a new visual shock.By the study on Andy Warhol’s Screen Printing works and to deeply understand of his artistic style, a clear demonstration of why repetition is so widely used in art design and image representation can be concluded. This dissertation contains not only the origin and characters of Pop Art, historical materials such as Andy Warhol’s personality traits, growth process and creative process of art, but also further analysis of their formation process and the influence. By means of art design theory and performance techniques, also focused on theme content, creative methods and art style, the dissertation concluded that Andy Warhol’s art of repetition is a product of multiple factors includes social and historical background, trend of literary thoughts and personal life experience.Andy Warhol expressed in the way that could be easily accepted by the public. Commercialization and popularity, which reflects from his art of repetition, is the important element of modern art design. The following questions: How aesthetic of innovation and concept of art to get business interests as well as cultural recognition, how to promote art design and commercial society to achieve common progress. We can get answers from the process of mass culture into art consumption by Andy Warhol’s repetition. A comprehensive and in-depth study of pop artist Andy Warhol, especially understanding of his expression technique and artistic conception, has undoubtedly enlightening significance to the development of contemporary china art and design.
