With opening the door to the outside world and pouring into a variety of foreign information resources, all kinds of artistic ideas and conceptions change and influence the realization of Chinese artists to the traditional art. Since the new art fashion in 1989 to now, Chinese art has experienced from simple surface imitation to the awareness of localization and has gradually joined the rest of the world, which outshines in the artistic world. However, after the emergence of Chinese contemporary art, a notable cultural phenomenon named vulgarization has appeared inevitably. It has become a common phenomenon in China’ contemporary art from the frequent beginning of 1990 s to recent times. It not only reflects the symbol of China chemistry composition and vulgar aesthetic taste, but also shows the performance of the public aesthetic exhaustion and artists’ creative weakness. But maybe they express and convey the personal views of society by means of this phenomenon.This paper is divided into four chapters to analyze this phenomenon.The first chapter mainly analyses the position of vulgarization phenomenon of the social background, which is the emergence and development of the important environment.The second chapter mainly talk about the appearance of vulgarization phenomenon. From its beginning, the vulgarization must depend on social transformation and the successful temptation of commerce and the influence of new concept and schema. In this paper, the third chapter focuses on the interpretation of Chinese vulgarization phenomenon in contemporary art, through specific examples of such a large number of contemporary vulgarization phenomenon presented their own views. The fourth chapter is the author’s evaluation and value analysis to this phenomenon. The author analyses this vulgarization of contemporary art and tells how to avoid and decrease its continual spread. The conclusion at the end of the text at the same time bases on the practical significance of Chinese vulgarization phenomenon in contemporary art in the analysis, which makes the purpose of sublimate.This paper focuses on China’s contemporary art. In the context of market economy, the author explores the performance and the advantages and disadvantages of the vulgarization phenomenon. The author reveals the vulgarization phenomenon in Chinese contemporary oil painting market demand and aesthetic needs through the study on the style of works and finds out original debilitating problem in the mass production. However, as we all know that every coin has two sides.The same is to the development of all things. The author must see the problem at the same time, but also exerts its beneficial value, takes its essence and gets out its dregs.Under the background of market economy and in the vigorous development process of contemporary art, the discussion to the vulgarization phenomenon of contemporary art helps to keep a sober creation mind and the right creation conception from the erosion of the commercial culture. And it has an important practically significance to the development of contemporary art at the present stage.
