The Optimization Research On Human Settlements In Xiantao In The Background Of New Urbanization

With the development of economy and technology, human living conditions is constantly improving, at the same time, the construction of human settlements is faced with resource shortage and waste, ecological environment destruction, desertification, urban heat island effect, water pollution, air quality reduction, vegetation deterioration, biodiversity decrease, frequently acid rain, lacking of public service and infrastructure. The various problems affect the quality of human settlements seriously and geography has a splendid tradition of living-area research, so the feature of region research applies to the study of human settlements, which become a hot point for human geography.Given this, taking New Urbanization pilot city Xiantao as study area, this article discussed the assessment system construction of human settlements for Xiantao and optimization efforts. To sum up, the following researches are made by the author:(1) This article not only introduced the theories development about domestic and international human settlements and assessment system, but also summarized the related subjects on this point which are the research foundation of this article. (2) Taking Xiantao as the study area, under the guidance of comprehensiveness, hierarchy, systematicness, scientificity and people-oriented principle, this article selected 37 representative indexes according the region characteristics. (3) Selected 10-year statistical data about Xiantao, its human settlements quality has been evaluated from 2003 to 2012 by the method of analytic hierarchy process, what’s more, the condition of economy, society and ecological environment have been evaluated simultaneously. (4) Based on the request of New Urbanization, the relevant optimization measures were proposed in order to settle the problems.The conclusions are as follows:(1) The result of Xiantao human settlements comprehensive index presents a rising trend from 2003 to 2012, which means Xiantao’s human settlements is constantly optimized. (2) The rising period can be divided into two stages:in the first stage (2003-2007), Xiantao’s human settlements comprehensive index shows a slight change, but in the second stage (2008-2012), it represents a rapid rising. (3) Among the subsystems, the variation index of economy subsystem and ecological environment subsystem are higher than society subsystem, which implies that ecological environment remains steady. (4) The coordination degree of economy, society and ecological environment subsystem shows a little change, but after 2009, the coordination began to decline. (5) The contribution rate of economy subsystem ranks first, followed by ecological environment subsystem with society subsystem last. The result represents the improvement of economy is the main reason for the optimization of human settlements.
