Gao Shi is a very important and quite distinctive poet in the prosperous time of Tang Dynasty, especially famous for his frontier poetry and his ancient poems have made great achievement in art, which have an abundant impact on the poetry creation by later generation scholars. Particularly influenced by the literary thought of retro and advocating Tang, scholars paid tremendous attention to the poems in Prosperous Tang. With the development of printing, the collections of Gao Shi’s poems have spread rapidly. The collections or excerpt of poems in Ming Dynasty have selected, organized a great number of Gao Shi’s poems, as well as their commenting and criticisms. Moreover, some scholars have mentioned Gao Shi and they even imitated Gao Shi’s poetry creation.In this paper, from the perspective of literary reception theory, I investigate the history of development, acceptance, criticism and influence of Gao Shi’s poems and systematically analyze the level of acceptance of Gao Shi’s poems, in order to explore the tendency of poetics and the aesthetic taste of scholars in Ming Dynasty, presenting the abundant connotation and artistic achievements of Gao Shi’s poems. This paper consists of five parts:Introduction:Research status review on Gao Shi’s poems.Chapter One:The spreading and printing of Gao Shi’s poems in the Ming Dynasty. It consists of two sections:section one briefly introduces the Ming Dynasty versions and the spreading of Gao Shi’s poems. In the middle and late Ming Dynasty, Gao Shi’s poems were mainly spread by the version of carving copy. In section two, I put the emphasis on the classification and study situation of Gao Shi’s poems in four collections:Tang Shi Ji, Tang Shi Suo, Tang Shi Lei Yuan and Tang Yin Tong Qian.Chapter Two:The Ming Dynasty’s tang poetry anthologies’ selecting and commenting on Gao Shi’s poems. In section one, on the basis of excerpt of Gao Shi’s poems before Ming Dynasty, I analyze the excerpt of Gao Shi’s poems in Ming Dynasty with the classification charts. In section two, I select some extracts and criticisms of Gao Shi’s poems from famous Tang Poetry excerpts in Ming Dynasty by the comparison of the quantity of the poems and the standard of excerpts, in order to study the characteristics of them and the aesthetic tendency of scholars, including Tang Shi Pin Hui, Tang Shi Shi Yi, Tang Shi Zheng Sheng, Gu Jin Shi Shan, Tang Shi Gui, Tang Shi Jie, Tang Shi Jing. In section three, I summarize the main characters of the excerpts of Gao Shi’s poems in Ming Dynasty. It can be concluded in the following aspects: First, intentions of excerpts vary and the excerpts are strongly influenced by poetics. Second, excerpts are selected in different standards and changed with the aesthetic development. Third, with the enhancement of consciousness of criticism of poetry, Gao Shi’s poems were widely recognized among scholars. Forth, his works are rich and content subjects, especially famous for his frontier poems and farewell poems. Fifth, literary criticisms have developed gradually and each in his own way has made an important contribution.Chapter three:The literary criticism of Gao Shi’s poems by poetics in Ming Dynasty. In section one, I investigate the development of literary values of scholars in Ming Dynasty. In general, the literary criticism of Gao Shi’s poems presents a scene of hundred of flowers blossoming. In section two, I focus on the analyzing the literary criticism in the two important poetic works Shi Sou and Shi Yuan Bian Ti.Chapter four:Ming Dynasty scholars’acceptance of Gao Shi’s poems in the poetry creation. In section one, I extract the relevant content of Gao Shi’s poems in the poetry creation in Ming Dynasty for further analysis the situation of acceptance of Gao Shi’s poems, including the high appreciation of Gao Shi learning poetry creation in the age of his fifty, after reading his poems, and the poems ponding Gao Shi, such as Ren Ri, as well as the comparison between Gao Shi’s poems and other works of other people or other works mentioning Gao Shi. In section two, I concentrate on the poetry creation imitating Gao Shi’s poems by Ming Dynasty scholars, discussing their situation of acceptance of Gao Shi’s poems. The imitation by Ming Dynasty scholars is not only the pure imitation of his rhythm, but also his values, his achievement and development in art.In conclusion, from the perspective of the spreading, the excerpt of Gao Shi’s poems as well as the criticism and imitation of his poems, we can sum up that the Ming Dynasty scholars’ acceptance of Gao Shi’s poems vary in a broad way and they develop gradually and their values of literary criticism, consciousness of criticism of poetry and the aesthetic sentiment have enhanced steps by steps as the time goes by.
