Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world; almost the entire population is Muslim. This is very relevant if Indonesia has a very much mosque. The mosque became a work of architecture that cannot be separated from the development of Islam. The mosque was a center of culture and Islamic religious activity. The development of Islamic architecture cannot be separated in the influence of the shape and the concept of cultural mix. It is considered very common because architecture is one of the very dynamic work cultures. Moreover, Islam has a universal nature that can adapt any cultural concepts in architecture. Then the Islamic architecture, particularly the mosque architecture has a fairly complex vernacularism development.Cheng Hoo Mosque became one of the works of acculturation between Islamic culture and Chinese culture in Indonesia. The mosque is growing along with the development of the Chinese Muslim community. The increasing number of Chinese Muslims in Indonesia also supports the development of Chinese mosque. In addition, the presence of Chinese mosques in Indonesia has given space to the Chinese Muslims to activity, without any sense of exclusion or discrimination. Indonesia is a country that has a pluralistic society, would be able to provide support in each diversity in it. The development of Chinese mosque architecture in Indonesia has shown the form of inter-religious tolerance. Chinese mosque architecture in Indonesia is present in a blend of Islamic culture and Chinese architecture. Nevertheless, Chinese mosque architecture still has a customized acculturation consideration. Acculturation should represent either a unified cultural identity, or the possibility of participation of other cultural influences in its development. The basic concept of mutually reinforcing acculturation can represent architecture and interior design of Chinese mosques in Indonesia became more meaningful. Chinese mosques are not only built on the function space, but can express the identity of Chinese culture in Indonesia. Semiotics analysis of research is an alternative method to decipher the acculturation subject systematically.
