In the development of Chinese modern art education,emerging a large number of outstanding people,Wu Mengfei and his teacher Li Shutong are the outstanding representatives in the field of art education.After studying in Japan returned,Li Shutong participates in and explores the cause of China’s art education actively. His thought and practice of the art education have a profound impact and have very important significance to Chinese art education and even the whole education. Wu Mengfei is the successor of Li Shutong’s art education career,thought and practise.He inherits and puts forward Li Shutong’s aesthetic education thought and inherits the teacher’s career unswervingly. He makes a great achievements in the field of art education.From setting up Shanghai junior normal school, cultivating specialized art education talents,sponsoring the Chinese aesthetic education will,creating the journal of aesthetic education to publicize aesthetic education thought, commitmentting to compile teaching materials actively and engaging in art teaching, Wu Mengfei devotes his life to art education career and makes a great achievement. Wu Mengfei’s artistic education thought and practice are rooted in Li Shutong. He advocates the personality development of art education thoughts and practice of personality development. Wu Mengfei’s artistic education ideas and practice activities are rooted in his teacher Li Shutong. He tries his best to put them forword. He advocates the personality development of art education and practice which expounds and deepens his teacher’s idea, "first knowledge and then art"; and the cultural ideology“integration of Chinese and Western culture” comes from his teacher, he works hard in practice to push it to a new level. In Wu Mengfei’s life of art education practice, he is not limited to school education, but tries his best to promote art and aesthetic education to the whole society. These play an important role in promoting social harmony, improving the national quality and promoting national progress. Both in the hard start-up stage and in the hard times, Wu Mengfei doesn’t give up his art education activities. He devotes himself to organizing community, founding publication, gathering strength, and promoting for carrying out aesthetic education.Research on the inheritance relationships between Wu Mengfei and Li Shutong,in order to clarify the inheritance and innovation development of the modern Chinese art education.These provide illuminating experience for contemporary art education development,rich artistic education,and promote the development of aesthetic education in the new period.
