During 60 years of creation as the career, Darius Milhaud who is one of the most influential and prolific French composers in the 20th century and core member of "Les Six" of France left 443 works to his later generations. Scaramouche is a representative classic produced by him in 1937. The thesis intends to make an analysis of the work in terms of its theme, rhythm, musicality, harmony, structure and expressions. Besides, the author will interpret the Saxophone version of Scaramouche briefly by integrating the performance techniques.The thesis consists of four parts as follows:Part Ⅰ. Introduction. The author will make analysis from six aspects, namely, research significance, research overview, research approach, brief introduction of the composer, creation motive and the version description.Part Ⅱ. Music and interpretation of the performance of the first movement.Part Ⅲ. Music and interpretation of the performance of the second movement.Part Ⅳ. Music and interpretation of the performance of the third movement.The author aims to bring the analysis of the theme, rhythm, musicality and harmony, structure and syntactic and the performance interpretation together to conduct both the theoretical and practical studies.
