After a long period of time of teaching Chinese for overseas’ students and different kinds of teaching activities both at home and abroad, we can easily found that the verbal measure words “bian” and “ci” are most basic, important and frequently use in the process of learning Chinese. Chinese learners and overseas’ students are always mix them when they are using these two verbal measure words, lots of stubborn bias and mistakes emerge in reality. The translations of verbal measure words “bian” and “ci” of different dictionaries and textbooks are almost the same. We can hardly find something which is the practical and useful method that can help the Chinese learners learning these similar measure words.The verbal measure words “bian” and “ci” is the same word “time” in English level. So we just can distinguish these two words’ meaning by compare them in Chinese level. Compare these two verbal measure words from Chinese and English level as well as cultural level can help us understand their deep meaning from the source. Only in this way can we reduce more mistakes and bias when we use them.This thesis compare the Chinese verbal measure words “bian” and “ci” with the English word “time” from the source. Collect the overseas’ students and Chinese learners’ bias and mistakes of using these two measure words by sending them questionnaires and leave homework. Through the questionnaires we collect the feedbacks of the Chinese learners, after analyze them we can know the reason and difficulties that why the overseas’ students make mistakes. We collect those mistakes and bias by searching the internet corpus and the textbooks for the foreign students, then we make a plan of how to help the students improve their study and overcome variety kinds of difficulties. So that the overseas’ students can use the verbal measure words correctly and freely. At last, design a new teaching plan by use the result of analysis and comparison in our research. Put the result into our teaching practice, try our best to approach the goal that we upgrade our teaching method, improve the teaching quality, avoid the mistakes so that can inspire the students summarize the usage of these two verbal measure words by themselves.
