The Study On The Chief Magistrate Of Dongjing Kaifeng Fu In Northern Song Dynasty

Kaifeng Fu, as the political, economic, cultural and military center of Northern Song Dynasty, its chief magistrate---the chief magistrate of Kaifeng Fu,has a very important status. The thesis search based on the inscription of “Kaifeng Fu ti ming ji”, combined with the existing historical documents and the existing academic research results,then study the chiefs magistrate of Kaifeng Fu’s ways of entering political stratum, the dispatch, the tenure, and the political fate. After study, we think at least have 178 chiefs magistrate of Kaifeng Fu and 229 tenures. Most of the chiefs magistrate of Kaifeng Fu are start their career from the imperial examination system, especial the Jinshi examination, the main reason is the national policy that Northern Song Dynasty made which attach importance to civilian officials while belittled military staff officers. Because of the influence that officials far more than the post while government want accelerate the flow of officials, the tenure of the chief magistrate of Kaifeng Fu in general is short, most of the tenures no more than one year. Except officials more than the post, the personal ability, political situation, internal struggle of imperial court all will influence the tenure. The dispatch of the chief magistrate of Kaifeng Fu depend their grades have the difference of Pan, Quanzhi, Quanfaqian,Yin and Mu. In the years of Jingkang, because of the chaos, occurs some Ling Kaifeng Fu. The chief magistrate of Kaifeng Fu’s political fate can know from their direction when they left the post and the highest office of their official career. In general, when they left the chief magistrate of Kaifeng Fu post, they would be the magistrate in other place or into the imperial court. As one of the important candidates of consuls, the chief magistrate of Kaifeng Fu become consuls direct not much, but 42.1% of them still can be consuls finally,from this we can know how important the post is.
