A Report Of Exhibition Interpretation At The 25th Harbin International Economic And Trade Fair

The 25 th Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair held successfully at Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Centre from June 30 th to July 4th. This Expo is upgraded from Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair which has been held for consecutive 24 years. Continuing to carry forward the spirit of “Highlighting Russia, Facing Northeast Asia, Involving the whole world and Serving all over China”, the Expo is an innovative, open and international lare-scale exhibition. As an interpreting volunteer at the Exhibition Division of the Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair Organizing Committee, I participated in the whole process of final preparation, exhibition installation, exhibition, and exhibition dismantlement between June and July, and I took part in a lot of exhibition interpreting practice. This paper is based on the interpreting practice at the Expo, aiming to discuss the problems that existed during the process of translation and trying to find out the solutions.This report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction of the interpreting task, which includes the client, the content and the requirements. The second chapter is the discription of the process of interpreting practice, which is composed by the preparation before interpretation, the process of interpretation and the evaluation of the interpretation. As the main part, the third chapter discusses the problems existed at vocabulary level, pronunciation level, understanding level and psychological level, and tries to find out the solutions. The fourth chapter is the conclusion of this report. By studying the problems during the interpreting practice, we try to find out some ways to improve the exhibition interpreting quality for the Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair, and make a brief statement and future expectations of the study of exhibition interpreting as an emerging area.
