Business Text Harbin Fair Exhibitor Manual Chinese-English Translation Practice Report

The 28th Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair was held in Harbin,China from June 15^th to 19^th.As the guiding mannual of the fair,the Exhibitor’s Manual has played a significant role in conveying exhibition information to the exhibitors.The mannual is of business nature and contains plenty of convention and exhibition vocabulary,Chinese modal verbs and behavioral verbs.The sentences turn to be densely arranged and rich in information,mainly of imperative sentences,passive sentences and conditional sentences.Not only is the meaning analysis of those vocabulary needed but also the bilingual transformation of culture and discourse cohesion in the process of translation.The cases chosen from the manual are to be analyzed from the aspects of word,sentence and discourse and be solved through various translation strategies in the business text translation.This translation practice is carried out in the form of report,which summarizes the gains and losses of the author during the translation process so as to make this practice a reference for similar texts in English translation.
