A Practice Report On Amplification And Omission In Chinese Translation Of The Narrative Text Harvest

This paper is a practice report. The original material of the translation project is from an original English book called Harvest, being written by Richard Horan. The narrative text is translated by three people, and this report’s material is from the eight to ten chapters. Horan shared his experiences and feelings when he came across America. He describes the steps of the harvest of many crops in family farms.With the development of society and the progress of the technology, modern people pay more attention on the advanced industries like IT, while they ignore agriculture more or less. However, agriculture play an important role in primary industry in the developing countries, and the modern industrial system still need consolidate the state of agriculture constantly. In the former study about agriculture,the scholars often studies on the respect of the terms of agriculture. But the writer of this report finds that significant differences in syntactic, semantic and culture shock are between English and Chinese. The report analyzes the sentences and phrases in the book in order to reveal the feasibility of amplification and omission’s application in this kind of article. So that it can enrich the research of these articles.
