Pingyang Dialect belongs to the Oujiang plot of south Wu Dialect. In this paper, the particles in Pingyang Dialect are investigated in detail, and the origins of some particles in Pingyang Dialect are probed into as well. According to the Mandarin particle system, the particles in Pingyang Dialect are classified into structural, aspectual, and mood particles.The paper consists of six parts.Part One is an introduction, mainly discussing the general situation of Pingyang and its dialect, Wenzhou Dialect, the research on Pingyang Dialect, the research method, and research significance.Part Two is concerned with the structural particles in Pingyang Dialect, mainly describing the distribution and function of structural particles “个”, “恁”, “爻”, “起” equivalent to the Mandarin particles of “的”, “地”, “得”, and analyzing the similarities and differences between them and the Mandarin Chinese structural particles.Part Three is about the aspectual particles of Pingyang Dialect. LikeWenzhou Dialect, the aspectual particles expressing completion, experience, attempt, and future are also present in Pingyang Dialect. Based on the description of the distribution and function of the aspectual particles “罢”, “爻”, “垕”, “过”, “眙” and “道”, this chapter compares the aspectual particles in Pingyang Dialect and those in Mandarin and Wenzhou dialect.Part Four is the study of mood particles in Pingyang Dialect, mainly describing the functions of mood particles “个”, “么”, “喏”, “嗳”, “嚓”, “罢”, etc.Part Five is the analysis on the origin of the particles in Pingyang Dialect. This chapter has three sections, respectively dealing with the origin identical to the evolutional pattern of the common language, the origin approximating the evolutional pattern of north Wu Dialect, and the origin unable to establish.Part Six is conclusion.
