With the accelerating pace of economic globalization, and the construction and development of the economic belt of the Silk Road, translation talents are playing an important role in the exchanges in terms of economic cooperation and culture communication. Escort interpretation, as one kind of interpretation,has its own features and requirements which ask the interpreters to do a two-way interpretation from English to Chinese and vice-versa. The dialogues are in a majority of the interpreting content, so turn-taking is relatively short. The author, taking her own experience as an escort interpreter in a foreign business activity which requires the author to do a sight-seeing escort interpretation in the city for the Gansu Zhuo Xinda Software Engineering Co., Ltd, explores the strategies and skills in escort interpreting in the perspective of relevance theory, analyzing the difficulties in the task and summing up the experiences so as to offer reference to other escort interpreters.This report consists of five parts. The first part is an introduction about the background, purpose and significance of the task. The second part is about the specific description of the task, the information of the entrusting party and the requirements of the entrusting party. The third part is interpreting process,consisting of three stages that are before interpreting, while interpreting and after interpreting. The stage before interpreting describes the preparation work including the background knowledge preparation,professional terms, interpreting tools and resources, and the selection of interpreting strategies with the support of guided interpreting theory. The stage while interpreting is the process of task that presents the main content of the interpretation. The stage after interpreting is the evaluation from the entrusting party,the client, the peer and self-evaluation. The fourth part is case analysis. The author, according to the guided interpreting theory, analyzes the problems occurring in the process of interpreting, and she discusses the using of interpreting strategies such as amplification, omission and cultural presupposition. The last part is a conclusion. The author makes a reflection on this interpreting practice, expecting to guide her interpreting study and practice.
