Tangut is a Minority regime built by Tangut people. She locates the remote northwest region of China, but she created splendid culture.Especially,Tangut people created cave art with unique era and National characteristics in Dunhuang greatly enriching cave art of Dunhuang.Thousand-Buddha Images regarded as a important part of cave art of Dunhuang is not only popular before Mogao caves of the Tangut period, but also is popular in Mogao caves of the Tangut period. On the one hand, the paper starts with the historical background of Thousand-Buddha Images in Dunhuang Grottoes of Tangut period, Introducing representative Thousand-Buddha Images in Dunhuang Grottoes of Tangut period and summarizing the feature of these images, we find that they are extremely similar to Thousand-Buddha Images of Late Age of Cao family’s administration over the Return-to-Allegiance Army regime. On the other hand, the paper analyzes the reason of the relationship between Thousand-Buddha Images in Dunhuang Grottoes of Tangut period and Thousand-Buddha Images in Dunhuang Grottoes of Late Age of Cao family’s administration over the Return-to-Allegiance Army regime. In my opinion,There are two reasons for this phenomenon, firstly,Mogao caves in the Tangut period inherited Painting Sketch of Thousand-Buddha Images used by Cao Painting Academy, secondly, wealthy families and monks drew Thousand-Buddha Images to express the deep crisis of thought in the Tangut period, typically, Latter Dharma Idea.
