Study On The Complicated Grammatical Significance Of Verb Reduplication

As a unique phenomenon, Verb reduplication in modern Chinese has attracted people’s attention for a long period. The research has yield fruitful results, and researchers reached agreement unanimously in many places. But in terms of grammatical significance of verb reduplication, there are many different points of view. This article analyses the previous studies on the Verb grammatical meaning. Putting forward some of my own humble opinions about the grammatical significance of verb reduplication.This article includes the following sections: Firstly, a brief introduction on the research of the grammatical significance of verb reduplication is made in the first part. Secondly, a research of the diachronic development of verb reduplication is clarified. This section is divided into three stages to explore the development of verb reduplication, and points out that in ancient Chinese there is no verb reduplication, meanwhile, modern Chinese Verb Reduplication develops itself on the basis of Modern Chinese verb Reduplication. Thirdly, making a summary on the grammatical significance of verb reduplication is the main task at this section. The analysis of the grammatical significance of verb reduplication from time and space angles, which is the main core of this article. Fourthly,the complicated studies on grammatical significance of verb reduplication will be unfolded in this chapter. Through the analysis of previous views, this part is primarily to point out the causes that lead to the complication of grammatical significances of verb reduplication, followed the outline the principles of the grammatical significance of verb reduplication as well as the grammatical category of the verb reduplication. The last part makes an overview of the full text, discussing the basic understanding about the grammatical significances of verb reduplication. At the end of this article, there’s a summary and inadequacies of this article.
