The Non-traditional Subject Creation In Huian Folk Traditional Stone Carving

With the creation on nontraditional theme of Hoi An traditional folk stone carving in Jimei Turtle Garden during the early days of New China as an example, the article analyzes the possibility of the application of traditional Chinese folk craft in modern and contemporary art based on real objects from the perspective of creation after the research on the collaborative approach, observation perspective, presentation style, creation concept and so on of Hoi An traditional folk stone carving techniques.Through the research approach of field study, visiting carvers, case analysis and graphic comparison etc., the article mainly solves two problems as follows. The first one is the technical problem of how to carve the modernized figures, machines and scenes for the traditional Hoi An folk stone carvers who have never received western modern art education and have been carving emperors, genius and beauties for a long time. The second one is the mental problem of how to cut to, present and drive the new themes of the age for those traditional Hoi An folk stone carvers who are engaged in folk-theme creation over time. Through the investigation and the case analysis on these two problems, the article teases out the creative thoughts, discusses the creative regularity, explores the artistic characteristics of the traditional Hoi An stone carving and makes preparations for the artistic creation of traditional Hoi An stone carving in the modern and contemporary themes.
