Based on the previous researches, the current study samples 31 college students(early adulthood group) and 30 the elderly(late adulthood group) adopting experimental method, to explore the effect of rendering time and serial position on adults’ repetition blindness effect. The current study includes 2 parts. In the first study, the effect of rendering time and serial position on emotion words’ repetition blindness effect for early adulthood were researched. In the second study, the effect of rendering time and serial position on emotion words’ repetition blindness effect for late adulthood were researched, and the difference between early and late adulthood on repetition blindness effect was also compared.Based on the experiment, the research received the following 8 conclusions.(1) For early adulthood individuals, the negative words produced a larger repetition blindness effect than neutral words.(2)For late adulthood individuals, the positive words produced a lager repetition blindness effect than neutral words.(3) For both early and late adulthood individuals, the repetition blindness effect of emotion words increased with the increasing of rendering time.(4) For early adulthood individuals, the items which were on both ends of serial position produced a stronger repetition blindness effect than the items in the middle.(5) For late adulthood individuals, the items which were in the front of the serial position produced a stronger repetition blindness effect than the items at the back.(6) Compared with early adulthood individuals, the late adulthood individuals’ repetition blindness effect produced by positive words, negative words and neutral words were bigger.(7) Early adulthood individuals’ repetition blindness effect was bigger than late adulthood individuals’ when the rendering time were 125 ms and 142 ms.(8) When the repeated items were in position 1-3, 2-4 and 3-5, the late adulthood individuals’ repetition blindness effect were all lager than the early adulthood individuals’.
