From twentieth Century 80 years, As western human geographers has paid more and more attention to actual problems of human and society, the focuses of urban geography have transformed from macroscopic level such as research on city system to microscopic level such as researches on shopping space, living space, commercial space and so on. At present, economic, space system and social problems in the process of Chinese city transformation has been widespread concern from research scholar at home and abroad. Research on China’s urban transformation and reconstruction of space effect on the spatial characteristics of shopping behavior of residents has become one of the research focuses of urban geography, urban sociology, and urban economics. My study continue to use the researching methods of behavioral geography research group at the Peking University on consumer behavior from the structure of the individual behavior space, and discussing on various factors from social and economic attributes of the residents influencing on the residents’ shopping activity space.The article is divided into three sections:The first part reviews the relevant research progress from home and abroad, introduces research backgrounds, contents, thoughts, methods, technical route and so on, and introduces related conceptions and basic theories.The second part systematically analyzes the Temporal-spatial characteristics of shopping behavior in Xining city and influencing factors from the following aspects: Firstly, briefly introduces the survey of Xining city and the questionnaire investigation, and summarizes the demographic characteristics and space characteristics of residents through the interview and questionnaire investigation of residents. Secondly, conclude the basic characteristics of the Xining residents shopping behavior from the frequency of shopping, shopping time characteristics, spatial characteristics and traffic mode based on the questionnaire data and interviews,research shows that the shopping behavior of Xining residents showed a low frequency and also finds that there are obvious different within frequencies in buying different goods, shopping activities in rest day are generally more than working days; Short distance and walking and public transport as the main traffic mode. Thirdly, analysis the temporal and spatial characteristics of shopping behavior of different types of goods, conclude the temporal and spatial characteristics of shopping behavior and shopping circle structure, research shows that shopping behavior of Xining city residents has obvious circle structure, From the residents’ shopping trip distances, we can reach that high-grade goods usually corresponding to high-grade spatial circles,the shopping behavior of different types and grades goods have different characteristics in the three layers. Finally, analysis the influencing factors of shopping behavior of Xining residents. In this paper, from social and economic attributes of residents such as gender, age, income, education level, family life cycle to analysis the differences of their shopping activity space and discusses the influence of various factors on the shopping activity space. Through the analysis we can find that there are notable differences in the shopping activities of different individuals, among gender, age, income and family life cycle has the direct influence to the shopping behavior of urban residents, but the level of education and occupation is mainly through their income and living area indirectly reflected in the spatial characteristics of shopping behavior.The third part is the conclusion, summarizes the main conclusions of this dissertation, and pointed out the problems in the course of the study and needing further study in the future.
