Image of the country is their own people and foreigners of the situation of the country’s public and political, economic, social, cultural and other geographical knowledge and Evaluation. Anime contains a colorful elements and symbol of national image, it also has unique advantages elements at the national level image communication and plays an important role in the construction process of the country’s image.Compared with the development and dissemination of the status quo in Japanese anime it will be found that the Chinese animation development process is filled with both advantages and shortcomings.The main advantage is that the development of Chinese animation obtains strong government support. At the same time, because of the large population and quickly development, the market prospect is broad. The primary weakness is that the contents of the Chinese animation are full of short board status and obviously naive single story, lacking persuasion but full-tasting pedagogical meaning.It results in a younger age bias audience. A more serious problem is the imperfect Chinese animation industry chain with a missing link in animation production process. Japanese anime has obvious advantages on development, because it obtains not only a complete industrial chain, but also excellent animation and animation companies. The Japanese animation industry has formed the whole people involved situation.I selected some of the representative part of Japanese anime of external communication, by refining the specific elements of Japanese animation in shaping the country’s image, as well as analysis of the difference between Japanese anime and Chinese animation from the material factors, psychological factors, and institutional factors.By analyzing the Japanese and Chinese anime elements of national image, the function of animation can be more obvious in the construction of national image. Chinese animation doesn’t lack of quality, but compared with Japanese anime, on the whole, we showed a relatively weakness on content creation, with more vague audience targeting and more single means of communication. The international communication doesn’t achieve the desired effect. Discussing from the results of dissemination, the propagation effects of animation is of less use in turning around the misreading of foreign audiences to Chinese national image, or even somehow string then the poor construction of Chinese national image in some areas. Generally speaking, Japanese anime is more successful to show the positive image of Japanese society. It has unique ideas and initiatives on shaping the physical elements, mental factors and institutional factors. There is a bold innovation in the international spread of animation, finally resulting in good communication effects. In recent years, animation has played an important role in improving Japanese reputation in the international community, establishing a good image of Japan, narrowing the cognitive and emotional distance between Japan and other countries.Constructing national image is to establish a good figure of the country and need to carry out all-round, multi-level, series of projects. It comes true mainly through the national image positioning, building, communicating and repairing. Among them, the national image positioning is the beginning, at the same time, is the base of constructing national image. To shape a specific national image, we must start from the constituent elements of the country’s image. The three elements that constitute the country’s image are institutional factors, physical factors and mental factors. External communication brings the national image into the category of countries in the strategic game. Repairing the national image, not only deal with the crisis of national image in public relations, but also includes to remodeling the national image that has came bad. Construction of the national image will need to locate, create, disseminate, and repair. Cartoon and animation industry is mainly involved in shaping the national image and has its own unique advantages on repairing the national image.How to make animation really play a role in the national image construction, taking active measures to solve the problems of domestic animation in content producing, product positioning, elements designing and international communicating, we could set about from the following several aspects. At first, we must strengthen the content creation, find inspiration from life, use Chinese elements reasonable, pay attention to detail forging, move steadily from the source of the animation industry; secondly, segment animation market, carry out the animation classification system, make the Chinese animation spread to cover the specific populations of different educational backgrounds and ages, promote the animation to really break out from younger age group and become universal animation; thirdly, actively create the animation industry chain, to seize the international market and expand external communication channels and international cooperation mode propagation, strengthen the development of derivatives markets, making animation products play a comprehensive part in international image communication.
