A Research On The Performance And Style Of Moritz Moszkowski’s Piano Concert Etude Op.24

It is a perfect vector of the two.Moritz Moszkowski is a great and indispensable composer, conductor and pianist in the 19th century. He has created a large amount of classic works of art. Nonetheless, it is a pity that many of his works are not widely spread. One of his classic works is Piano Concert Etude Op.24. This work has reflected his flawless depiction of musical language and extreme expression of musical emotion and artistic style.From three sections, this thesis makes a detailed elaboration of the research on the performance and style of Moritz Moszkowski’s Piano Concert EtudeOp.24. Section One is the historical definition of Piano Concert Etude. Following the historical development, this section makes a brief presentation of the formation and development of Piano Concert Etude. Section Two is the analysis of the musical noumenon. It analyzes and explains the development of musical language from the aspects of musical materials, rhythm and meter, mode and tonality, harmony, structure and texture. Section Three is the detailed analysis of the performing skills and essentials, including singing lines of lyrical passages, stagato, octave skills, running of hands, ornamentation, handling of force, conversion of accent, Rubato, musical expression and artistic appeal of works and pedal.There is little research on Moritz Moszkowski’s piano works in China, this thesis tries to fill this gap, expecting to find out the essence of his piano works by myself, so as to promote a good succession and balanced development of the current piano works, and then contribute to the succession and development of the whole human’s musical works.
