The Qing dynasty is the last dynasty of ancient Chinese print art. And it also is the time that the Chinese ancient prints from prosper to the demise. After the Qing emperor abdicated, people changed the way of communication. We no longer write to others. Brushes also are replaced by the modern writing instruments. Letter papers gradually disappear in people’s field. And the emergence of the Hundred-flower Poetry reflects the publishing situation of the late Qing and early Republic. It provides reliable basis for our study. Lu xun and Zheng zhenduo are affected by the Hundred-flower Poetry. Then they published the famous Chinese Color Prints Today.The paper systematically researched into the Hundred-flower Poetry in three parts. Firstly, it is about the Hundred-flower Poetry and the fashion of the late Qing and early Republic, including the history of letter paper, the fashion of the late Qing and early Republic and the painter of the Hundred-flower Poetry. Secondly, the Hundred-flower Poetry’s organizing and printing, including "woodblock colored overprint", printing process of the Hundred-flower Poetry and the comparing between other prints. The final part is version combing. On the one hand, I am trying to explore its artistic charm. On the other hand, It helps us to understanding the situation of that decade.
