Lombardy region is one of the most active regions in Italy for the promotion of Chinese language teaching:the teaching of Chinese language in high schools, universities and language institutes has rosen the interest of students, school masters, families as well as many teaching institutions.In the 80’s in Lombardy there were only three teaching institution providing Chinese courses:University of Pavia (1960), University of Milan (1980) and Istituto Italiano per 1’Africa e l’Oriente-Sezione Lombardia (1953), but currently there are more than 32 high schools,9 universities and 3 language institutes organizing Chinese courses.The contents of this paper aim at describing the research findings related to "Investigation and Analysis of the Current Situation of Chinese Teaching and Study in Lombardy". According to the research activity carried out by the author, we can distinguish nine sections:Preface, General Situation, Investigation, Analysis, Suggestions, Conclusion, Appendix, Research materials and Acknowledgement.In the preface, the author not only provides the research background, research valuability and research meaning, research methods and research practise, but also provides a general description of the research materials used in the paper.In the first paragraph, the general introduction is carried out. High schools can be divided in technical and ordinary high schools, universities can be distinguished in general and not general universities, language institutes can be divided in language institutes for the promotion of Chinese language and culture and institutes for the promotion of oriental languages and cultures. Moreover, the author in describing high schools and universities, furtherly distinguishes between regular and extra Chinese courses, while Chinese courses of language institutes are mainly oriented to the promotion of the Chinese language and culture among adults.In the second paragraph, the author describes "A.Manzoni" Ordinary High School, "E. Tosi" Technical High School, University of Milan (general university), Milan Bocconi University (not general university), Confucius Institute of University of Milan (Chinese language and culture institute) and Milan City Council. Language Center (Oriental languages and cultures institute).In the third paragraph, the author carries out an analysis on "A.Manzoni" and "E. Tosi" high schools, University of Milan, Bocconi University and Confucius Institute of University of Milan. The topic analyzed are individual factors of the students (study background and experience, study habits, study time, study difficulties and improvements), teaching system (organization of teaching, timetables), teaching contents, teaching methods, qualified teachers and teaching materials.In the fourth chapter, the author furtherly provides the relevant advices for the development of Chinese Teaching and Study.In the Conclusion, the author sums up the main contents and also discusses about some innovative and not innovative perspectives.As appendix, we can find the questionnnaires used by the author. There are also "List of high schools, universities and language institutes of Lombardy", and "Terminology on Investigation and Analysis of the Current Situation of Chinese Teaching and Study in Lombardy". This terminology adopted is to help Chinese reader in understanding the Italian terminology used in this paper, and always followed by the Italian equivalent.The research material is collected in the bibliography, while in the acknowledgement the author expresses his thanks to teachers and schoolmates.
