Chinese element is the member of Chinese culture, not only refers to the material culture but also refers to the spiritual culture, not only as a symbol of the Chinese traditional culture but also embodies the. Chinese concept and characteristic of modern civilization.To research the Chinese art culture which reflected in contemporary Japanese painting is to research the Chinese elements which lie in contemporary Japanese painting. This paper explains the definition of Chinese element firstly, and summarizes the development history of Chinese elements which are lie in traditional Japanese art. Contemporary history is a developmental history, points out that the traditional Japanese painting is the collection of Chinese traditional art elements. The second chapter analyzed emphatically Chinese elements of’four mountain’- Kaii Higashiyama, Tatsuo Takayama, Kayama Matazo and Hirayama Ikuo. Due to the scarcely possible to grasp the Chinese elements in contemporary Japanese painting. So this paper start with ’four mountain’, enumerate their paintings which want to perform ’China’, analyses the Chinese elements in their paintings. Then the third chapter spread out how their paintings influenced in Japanese painting in the theme, the means of artistic expression and the cultural connotation, then excavates the Chinese element which apply to the painting, and in the end reflect the innovation and the underlying problems in development history.With the development of art diversification, Chinese elements are much accounted of all over the world. This paper can help Chinese painting pay more attention to own advantages, and reflect on their own insufficient. Even communicate with others arts, in order to push forward the transformation and development in contemporary Chinese painting.
