Hirayama Ikuo(1930.06.15—2009.12.02),a world-famous Japanese painter,being well-known by his Buddhism-themed painting style,is one of the Top 5 painters in Japan.Hirayama Ikuo's paintings are based on his twenty years' collection of the landscapes,relics and people's living conditions on the Silk Road.He combines decorative style with traditional elements together and highlights the realistic technique in his paintings.The fullness of Buddhism in his paintings is highly appreciated.As one of the first group Japanese painters being introduced in China,Hirayama Ikuo has served as an honorary professor at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts since 1986.He dedicates himself in the preservation of cultural relics in Dunhuang,leads the research on frescos and contributes a lot to the development of Chinese modern meticulous painting.Hirayama Ikuo's painting is highly decorative.However,there are few researches on him and his painting style.Therefore,the author analyzes those successful paintings in Japan,and combines the status of modern meticulous painting in Chinese together.The author hopes that the thesis is possibly to make some contributions to the further studies of Chinese painting.The thesis consists of four parts.In the first chapter,the author analyzes Hirayama Ikuo's experience in painting,introduces the formation of his painting style and his achievements in art.In the second chapter,the author analyzes the decorative elements and characters in Hirayama Ikuo's paintings from the perspectives of composition,line drawing,shaping,coloring and complanation in detail.In the third chapter,the author analyzes the combination and innovation of Japanese and Chinese decorative painting style,which focuses on their materials,methods,and concepts.In the fourth chapter,the author tentatively tries to merge Hirayama Ikuo's decorative painting style into Chinese painting.The author hopes that the thesis is possibly to make some contributions to the further studies of Chinese modern decorative painting.
