Gouyang qinshu is one of the most representative talking and singing arts in Anhui province, which is popular in the both sides of Guohe River in the north of Anhui and adjacent areas. Its major accompaniment instruments include yangqin and zhuiqin, so Guoyang qinshu was called “singing yangqin” or “singing sixian” in the early period. Guoyang qinshu adopts the local dialect in Guoyang county to talk and sing, whose singing styles are rough and bold, loud and forceful; and whose melody is unaffected and fluent. Its major singing form are single performance or multiple performance. Its content for singing mainly reflects historical theme and life theme. As a rare art form, Guoyang qinshu is the precious heritage in the development of local culture and history, which is popular with local people. It includes the art essence of talking and singing, and performance and bears rich local customs and practices, as well as folk remains. Based on the field investigation and arrangement and induction of relevant literatures, the author adopts ethnomusicology and music bibliography research methods to make objective description to Guoyang qinshu and make deep exploration and argumentation to its historical evolution and music body. For one thing, it is to confirm the important meaning of Guoyang qinshu in the folk art. For another thing, it is to draw the whole society’s attention of the inheritance and development of Guoyang qinshu.First, the thesis illustrates the historical evolution of Guoyang qinshu, demonstrates the process of sort of art form from generation to mature development, and introduces famous local artists and key societies, including the social background and cultural context for survival of the talking and singing sort of art form. Furthermore, the thesis makes a detailed illustration to singing structure, relationship between vocal music and lyric, accompaniment way, performance form, and singing booklist of Guoyang qinshu. Finally, the author makes deep discussion to the dilemma and inheritance of Guoyang qinshu to encourage more scholars and artists to join in the team for inheriting and protecting the traditional talking and singing art---Guoyang qinshu and to absorb the quintessence and rejecting the bad; to inherit and develop this good folk talking and singing art---Guoyang qinshu; to make constant exploration and innovation in the process of inheritance and spreading; and to let Guoyang qinshu bloom radiant splendor in Chinese national talking and singing art forest.
