A Translation Report(C-E) On Foundation Treatment

In recent years, the technology of Chinese civil engineering has achieved unprecedented progress,which promotes the exchange and cooperation among various nations. Therefore, the demand for translation of civil engineering texts has been increased.This translation report, based on the translation practice of Foundation Treatment, analyzes the features of civil engineering translation. From the perspective of text type, this translation task can be categorized into scientific and technical text, which emphasizes the objectivity and accuracy of the information. Therefore, under the guidance of Skopos Theory, the translator discusses feasible translation methods, such as linear translation, division translation and reverse translation, aiming to provide useful guidance for future translation in this field.In this report, the translator firstly makes a task description and analyzes the text features. Besides, the translator makes some preparation before translating, including the formulation of translation schedule, the selection of translation tools, parallel text and translation theory as well as the establishment of table of terms. Then, the translator summarizes and analyzes the main problems and difficulties encountered in the process of translation. Under the guidance of the Skopos Theory, the translator classifies all difficulties into several kinds and analyzes each case, then providing corresponding translation strategies and solutions.Finally, the translator summarizes the personal understandings and problems during the whole translation process.
