A Translation Report On The E-c Translation Of On The Connections Of Text, Ritual And Performance In China

Academic papers are the records and reflections of research results in both social and natural science.With the rapid development of China in recent years, more scholars from different countries become interested in Chinese culture and conduct researches on it with methods and standing points different from that of the native scholars, which has a positive effect on broadening native scholars’ horizons and promoting the development of relevant studies. And it would be a great help in promoting the development of relevant researches and widening the horizon of native researchers.The translation report is a post-translation review and analysis on the translation of an academic paper On the connections of text, ritual and performance in China. With the guidance of Christiane Nord’s Text Analysis Model, following the translation strategy of domestication, the author completed the translation report through translation brief, analysis of source text, planning of translation strategy, and production of target text, so as to make it a reference and guidance for future translation in the field.The report mainly includes five parts. The first part is introduction, in which the author introduces the background and significance of the translation practice. The second part is task description, in which the author gives a brief introduction to the sources and features of the translation task. The third part is the translation process. The part consists of before translation, during translation and after translation, and problems, solutions and the translator’s tasks in each stage respectively. The fourth part is case analysis, in which the author analyzes difficulties in translating and gives out corresponding solutions. The fifth part is conclusion. The author summarizes the feelings and experiences, and also shortcomings and defects in the translation process. Besides making reasonable translation schedule, selecting translation tools, translators should also improve their awareness of cross-cultural communication, lay stress on communication with client and professionals in relevant field, so as to finish the translation task with high quality and constantly raise their professional competence.
