In the field of visual design today, character, as the medium for perceiving the world and conveying the feelings, is no long confined to the intuitional communication of information. On the contrary, it’s emerging in more and more colorful forms in the sea of information. The application of character undertakes more and more important roles, and are extended to different fields in a special form of visual pattern by designers. This paper put forward the concept of "character pattern " to analyze from the angle of pattern that character is advancing to the forefront of the times as a special pattern.In the field of visual design today, character, as the medium for perceiving the world and conveying the feelings, is no long confined to the intuitional communication of information. This paper put forward the concept of "character pattern " to analyze from the angle of pattern that character is advancing to the forefront of the times as a special pattern.This paper used the research method of "scattered point", selected the important viewpoint from the two-dimensional, three-dimensional and multi-dimensional perspectives, and studied the form principles for the design of trendy characters to interpret the "character pattern". It summarized the key of its design method, drew conclusions from the law of character pattern design, and tried to open up new ideas for design. How to draw experience and get nutrition from the cases of character design, so as to provide some reference value for the character, is the author’s thinking.
