Interpreting Report On Road Of Profession Of CCTV Documentaries The Power Of Sports

This report is a practical report of the author’s simulating interpreting, and the material comes from a CCTV documentary series The Power of Sports. The report takes the third episode Road of Profession of the documentary as the analyzing object, and takes an analysis into different kinds of problems which are likely to appear in Chinese-English consecutive interpreting of sports-related subjects. To solve the problems, the report probes into relevant interpreting strategies and solutions. Through the pre-interpreting preparation, translating, proofreading and some other practices, the author’s interpreting experience, abilities and skills have all been fully enhanced.The report analyzed the whole process of this interpreting practice from preparation period to the end, and described the interpreting task from four aspects, which respectively are task description, interpreting process, case analysis and interpreting summary. In reviewing the interpreting process, the report emphasized on describing task description and pre-interpreting preparation period, which includes background statement, basic content introduction, pre-interpreting vocabulary accumulation, prediction in advance and so on; in the unit of “interpreting process and case analysis”, several typical examples are selected for textual analysis and discussions from multiple perspectives, and the author makes a detailed summary of the gains and losses of this interpreting practice.It is hoped that some cases and strategies in this interpreting report could make a guide to future interpreting learners, and offer research materials to the scholars in interpreting field.
