A Report On The Practice Of Chinese-English Consecutive Interpretation Of The Special Lecture On The "Surface 2020" Epidemic

At the end of 2019,an outbreak of COVID-19 swept the world.In such special circumstance,countries all over the world are in danger.All countries hope to learn from China in the pandemic prevention and control,so as to overcome the crisis.Therefore,the author selected a special speech on COVID-19 for the simulate consecutive interpretation.This thesis is based on the simulated consecutive interpretation of “Surge in 2020”Special Speech on COVID-19,and proposes and analyzes the problems encountered in the interpreting process and countermeasures.The author will divided the problems into three categories,including redundancy,expression differences between Chinese and English because of the different cultural loads,and the problem of loose sentences.The author has taken corresponding strategies to deal with these problems,including the integration of content,condensed source language information,omitting category words,ignoring the external form of the source language,expressing the connotation of the source language,interpreting appropriately to express the content of the source language,the reorganization of sentence logic and the interpretation of conjunction words,so as to strengthen the logical relationship of the sentence.The author hopes that this thesis can provide a good reference for future postgraduate students in MTI and the interpreters who want to interpret in the field of pandemic.
