Shyness is a common psychological phenomenon. Evolutionary psychology comprehend individual’s shyness to adapt to the phenomenon in the process of biological evolution, as well as the mental process of jealousy, fear, anger, sadness, empathy. The degree of the shyness determines the rank that individuals can be affected and confused. High sense of shyness not only affects the individual’s social activities, but also apparently effects their study and life, The final will likely lead to social anxiety, socialphobia, or other psychological disorders, and it threats individual’s physical and mental health.The junior middle school stage is the key stage for children to get into teenager stage, children in this stage have very high self-awareness and it’s easy to have a high degree of shyness which is caused by wrong understanding or environmental problems, finally, turn into a social anxiety. The present study based on the former research and which systematically sorted out the shyness and related issues. This study carried out a survey of the second grader’s overall shyness of a junior middle school in LanZhou and the relationship between shyness and core self-evaluation, the survey tried to choose the appropriate group’s intervening strategy to reduce teenager’s shyness. On the one hand, it verifies the effect of group counseling method to solve the problem of the youth’s high level shyness; On the other hand, it provides practical and effective method for the school mental health education.The current study includes: First, Combine with the related theory and method using group intervention to solve specific problems, and make collective measuring questionnaires targeting 343 junior middle school students who are in grade 2 at a junior middle school of Lan Zhou to get a conclusion of shyness and core self-evaluation of the second graders at this school. Second, select 28 students as a conseling group to work out a specific group intervention strategies and make an intervention to research objects at the same time.This research concludes the following results: 1, from the statistical sense, there exists higher negative correlation between shyness and core self-evaluation in junior middle school students. 2, group intervention strategy effectively reduce the shyness level of the members by changing the members unreasonable social interaction cognition and the lack of social interaction psychology and social interaction skills.These results suggest that group intervention can provide effective methods for the school mental health education in solving the problem of shyness, etc.
